“ There are a lot of coffee shops in LA where you will feel judged for ordering anything less complicated than a "single-origin Ethiopian pour-over with notes of existential bamboo." But Bluestone Lane in Westwood? Simple and delicious. First off, they've got these two guys running the place – Joseph and Eli – who are like the buddy cops of coffee shop we didn't know we needed. Joseph is on top of your order like he's got some kind of savant-level coffee obsession, while Eli's over there making drink recommendations like he's reading your tarot. I'm telling you, these guys might be missing their calling as coffee cult leaders. Now let me tell you about their Matcha Banana Cream foam thing. Holy sh*!. It's like if matcha and banana Fosters had a baby, and that baby was raised by Willy Wonka. I drank it so fast I almost sucked my own face inside out through the straw. I'm not even ashamed. Though I will say, Bluestone Lane stocks the kind of paper straws that lost Joe Biden, the election. These things disintegrate after the first sip and you end up, sucking on them like you’re underwater struggling for air. Also let’s talk about the location: Prime real estate for what some might call "people watching." The parade of pretty that walks by this place is better than downtown LA during fashion week. I am 100% sure the number of attractive people per capita diverges from the national average college campus. And I didn’t even go to college. I could tell one tourist dude was just sitting there thinking, “attractive” must be a UCLA prerequisite. So yeah, five stars for the coffee, another five for Joseph and Eli's whole vibe, and about seventeen more for giving me front-row seats to the unofficial Westwood fashion show. My therapist is trying to discourage me from spending eight hours a day here, but what does she know? She still drinks Folgers. ”
